Special Projects

DCD embraces special projects that support the needs of our students and their families. Two recent projects include revision of deaf education teacher preparation standards and the prevention of maltreatment.

A recently completed project is the revision of deaf education teacher preparation standards that included standards addressing the recognition, reporting, prevention, and response to child maltreatment. The updated standards will be posted on the CEC site soon.

The Prevention of Maltreatment is an ongoing project that started in 2009 with one organization, and 10 years later more than 20 professional and family organizations are collaborating to address the issue of recognition, reporting, prevention, and response to child maltreatment.
